St Francis’, which will celebrate half a century of life, worship and service in 2014, was originally built to serve the then new Warren Estate and Upper Chobham Road area. It is the smaller of the two churches in the parish and is an attractive wooden clad building set in pleasant woodland surroundings. The church is simple and beautiful with an intimate and friendly atmosphere, and a congregation which is particularly welcoming.
The church is open each week day morning during term time, providing a quiet space to just sit or pray for a few moments during a busy day. Prayer requests can be left on the prayer board. St Francis’ offers a welcome to people of all ages and is a relaxed setting for families and children.
The refurbished halls make it an ideal building for community activities. A Pre-School meets each morning during term time and there are afternoon and evening groups such as Brownies and Guides and other activity groups for both children and adults.
The church opens each Tuesday afternoon for “T @ 3”, giving parents and carers who collect children from school the opportunity to drop in for a cup of tea and a biscuit while they wait.
The main Sunday service is at 10.00am. See here for details
Evening services are held on the second and fourth Sundays in the month:
2nd Sunday: “Inspire” is our new informal evening service, with contemporary music led by a worship band and takes place at 7.30pm. See here for details
4th Sunday: is a more quiet, meditative service, using Taize, Celtic and other forms of meditative worship. It takes place at 6.30pm
A small and large Hall are available for hire.
