Children and Young People

We welcome people of all ages to our church and there is always a special welcome for children and young people. We are constantly developing what we offer for families with children so why not come and join us?
At St Peter’s on Sundays there is something for families every week at our main 10.00 am service.
First Sunday of the month - All Age Worship
This lively service lasts about 45 minutes, and children normally stay in the service. With mainly contemporary music, and activities to include children, there is something for everyone.
Third Sunday of the month - All Age Communion
This service lasts about an hour, in a similar style to the first Sunday, but with communion. Everyone is welcome, those not wishing to receive communion are invited to come forward to receive a blessing.
Other Sundays - Holy Communion
A more traditional service, with hymns and a robed choir. There is a creche for children of 3 and under. Children aged 4 to 10 years can go out to their own special group "Splash" after the first hymn for fun children's church activities. Parents can accompany their children if they wish. Everyone returns in time for communion.
FISH for young people aged 11-14 is held in St Peter's Parish Hall on Sunday evenings from 6.30pm to 8.00pm during term time for fun, activity and nurturing faith. Confirmation groups for young people are held regularly.
Uniformed organisations at St Peter’s and St Francis’. There are Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Rainbows, Brownies and Guides sponsored by the parish.
St Peter’s church choir is pleased to welcome children from the age of seven who are keen to sing. A choir weekend is held every year for the younger members and there are opportunities to join in a variety of musical activities. Choir Practice is on alternate Thursday evenings.
