Children and Young People

We welcome people of all ages to our churches and there is always a special welcome for children and young people. At present we are trying to develop what we offer for families with children and we welcome your comments, suggestions and any offers of help.

At St Peter’s on Sundays there are two services each month planned to be attractive to everyone of whatever age.
First Sunday of the month - Family Service
This service lasts about 45 minutes and parents seeking baptism are asked to come to this service before and after the baptism of their baby. Guides and Brownies sometimes take part. It is not a communion service.A creche is available at St. Peter's on all 2nd, 4th and 5th Sundays for under 3s.
Third Sunday of the month - Family Communion
This service lasts about an hour. Everyone is welcome, those not wishing to receive communion are invited to come to the altar rail for a blessing.
Second and Fourth Sundays - Holy Communion
The service is more formal and slightly longer and the singing is led by the choir. There is a special group for children aged three and upwards and they join their parents towards the end of the service for a blessing.
At St Francis the All Age Communion is on the fourth Sunday and the All Age Service without Communion is on the second Sunday of the month. Children are welcome at other services and there is usually a children’s group on the first and third Sundays of the month.
