The Alpha course Why not come and join us Tuesday 2nd September – taster evening……
If you wanted answers to some of life's really big questions— who am I? is there more to life than this? is there a God? What happens when I die? You might discuss them with friends, or buy a book. But wouldn’t it be great if you could meet up with other people who are asking exactly the same questions, an opportunity to explore the meaning of life and over a meal? Especially if there was also someone in the group who could offer ideas and help the discussion along. That is exactly what the Alpha course is —and over 11 million people around the world have now done it. It’s an opportunity for anyone to explore the Christian faith in a relaxed setting. To follow a no-pressure, 10-week thought-provoking programme which addresses some of life’s biggest questions. The structure usually involves weekly sessions lasting a couple of hours, plus a weekend/day away all about the Holy Spirit. The best thing is that Alpha is usually built around a meal, which is all laid on for you – all you have to do is turn up and yes, the course is absolutely FREE. The great things about the course are the relaxed, informal atmosphere and the freedom to say exactly what you feel—even your doubts. Alpha looks at aspects of Jesus’ life and death; the way Christians view the Bible and prayer; who the Holy Spirit is; how ordinary men and women try to live out their lives following Jesus. There’s plenty of time for discussion, you can ask any questions you like, and there’s no such thing as a stupid question—it’s either been asked hundreds of times before, or simply voices what no one else has the courage to ask! Alpha is supported by all major Christian denominations.
